How do I get into acting?

First, be thankful you have an interest in acting.

It means you are creative and most likely a decent person.

The desire to act is something fun to do in your spare time or for work.

There are also some fantastic perks that come with being on sets such as free food, travel opportunities, getting paid for doing what you love, etc.

You just need to get over the fact that you don't have any experience in the industry when applying for jobs or internships.

Don't let it stop you from trying because the only way to learn is by figuring it out yourself so here are my tips on how I got started!

Tip 1: Watch films and Television shows.

Pay attention to how the actor delivers their lines, their facial expressions, and how they move on the screen.

This is a great way to start training your eye and improve your understanding of the craft.

It's also super inspiring to watch your idols work!

Follow rich people on YouTube, watch carefully how they do it.

Tip 2: Read plays or monologues.

This is another way of training your ear and mind for the acting craft.

By reading aloud, you will be able to get a sense of the rhythm and melody that is found in the script.

It's also a great way to improve your public speaking skills!

Tip 3: Join an acting class or workshop.

There are many different acting schools across the country and they all offer different training.

This is a great way to meet people, learn from experienced teachers and coaches and also get feedback on your performance after each session.

Tip 4: Join an online acting community.

Many websites offer you the opportunity to connect with other actors who are passionate about their craft.

Some notable ones include a few communities you can find on Reddit.

Search for groups that interest you such as film, television, theatre, or even improve, and join up!

Tip 5: Get your headshots done!

This might sound pretty silly but having clean professional headshots can make all the difference in getting yourself out there!

Plus it's a good idea to update them every few years.

Tip 6: Create an acting reel.

This is a video compilation of your best work that you can use to send to agents or potential employers.

It's a great way to show off your range and talent as an actor!

Tip 7: Start building your network.

The acting industry is all about who you know so start meeting people in the industry!

Attend networking events, meet-ups, or even start your own blog or podcast.

The more people you know, the better!

I hope these tips help and happy auditioning! :)

If you're interested in getting into the acting profession with no prior experience, be sure to watch films and television, read plays and monologues, attend acting classes or workshops, join an online acting community, get your headshots done and create an acting reel.

These are all effective ways to begin training for the profession as well as build a network of like-minded individuals who support you in your career goals.

With no prior experience in the industry, it will be difficult to find any jobs at first but I highly recommend creating your own projects (short films/web series) to gain some skills and connections within the industry.

It's also important to take advantage of free opportunities like internships especially if they let you know about them early on!

There are many resources available online that can help actors train for this profession so good luck!

Hope that helps ( :
